Papermaking - Our First Workshop in Our New Location April 7, 2009

Here are some images from our paper-making workshop in our new space. We pulped shredded paper in the blender, then used screens as molds to form new handmade sheets.

Holding our ears while the paper pulps in the blender.

A new sheet pressed from a circle mold.

That first sheet grew with many layers into a "paper pie."

Pouring pulp onto a group piece.

The final group paper mandala of swirling colors.

  1. Did you make this paper pulp or did you buy a "pulp" material from an art supply store? I would like to recycle and this looks like it would be a lot of fun?

  2. We made the pulp with the help of a paper shredder and a blender. Most of it comes from old fliers (colored paper) and bills or statements. We shredded everything first and then put it in the blender with warm water to make the pulp. Sort of like a paper smoothie. It is a wonderful way to recycle.
